Summary/Objective:

Gellert Global Group is growing, and we are searching for a Vice President of Business Development. GGG is the largest family-owned food importer in the US servicing all channels of the food industry with products from around the world. The Business Development function is responsible for market development, sales support, sourcing new products and establishing a strategy for growth. He/She must work collaboratively with other GGG departments including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance. Interfacing with retailers, distributors, suppliers, and operators is crucial to achieving sales and profit objectives.

Essential Functions: (include but not limited to)

  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and market penetration
  • Oversee day to day management and leadership of business development team
  • Collaborate with senior level decision makers, both internally (sales, operations, finance, marketing) and externally (suppliers and customers) to develop and execute strategies that drive profitable sales
  • Build relationships and develop networks, specifically develop accounts and manage vendors
  • Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge for assigned categories
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans that meet product category sales and profit objectives
  • Offer solutions to help individuals and teams work for efficiently
  • Collaborate and lead the business development and sales teams to identify growth opportunities within each sales region for assigned products
  • Visit customers/distributors/brokers to support sales efforts
  • Collaborate with the marketing department on product category marketing strategy
  • Coordinate supplier support to help achieve mutually agreed upon objectives
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships (as it relates to business development)
  • Explore new product opportunities through proper research, analysis and negotiations
  • Continuously rationalize product portfolio based on thorough analysis
  • Gain knowledge about competitors and their activity

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of brand or product management experience in CPG, foodservice or specialty foods distribution
  • Ability to travel frequently (25%+)
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and analytical skills and have the ability to introduce new products and related feasibility analysis.
  • Financial acumen to effectively manage P&L
